Mooring Buoys:
There are no official visitors' buoys, but the yellow buoys north of Drake's Island, opposite Millbay, can sometimes be used if permission is obtained from The Longroom (QHM's office).
Anchorages:
There are several anchorages in the Sound, but apart from well up the rivers which feed into it, none offer complete protection from all directions. There are no charges for anchoring here. The most useful being Cawsands Bay, Jennycliff Bay and Barn Pool.
Marinas:
Of the 4 main marinas, Sutton Harbour is the closest to the city centre and is accessed through Sutton lock. Queen Anne's Battery (QAB) and Plymouth Yacht Haven both have frequent water taxi services to the Mayflower Steps at the Barbican. Mayflower Marina is the oldest in Plymouth with very friendly staff, however it is further from the city centre.
Millbay is a relatively new marina with 88 berths that range from 10 to 14m. The King Point Marina is larger and can accommodate over 150 vessels.
