Anchorages:

In W to NW winds, Porth Cressa (south of Hugh Town) provides a good anchorage in 2m. It is exposed to any swell from SE to SW. There are no longer has any visitor moorings here.

Watermill Cove, on the NE corner of the island, offers good protection in winds from S to NW. Anchor in 5m.

Hugh Town Harbor

Moorings:

There is no anchoring permitted within the harbor itself.

In the harbor there are 28 yellow visitors' buoys for boats up to 12m and 10 green buoys for boats up to 18m. Rafting is permitted (with consent from the original boat) and is a well recognized procedure here in settled weather.

Strops can be purchased from the harbor office to use on the mooring buoys for maximum security and then taken away with you to provide security on any swinging mooring.

There is good shelter except in W/NW gales.

A water taxi operates from 08:00 to 17:00.

Docking:

The harbor wall provides room for 3 alongside berths (depth 1m over CD) at the inner end (ahead of the white line painted at the top of the inner steps) and a tender landing pontoon. There is water and electricity here.

Garbage bins are provided but for any waste from boats arriving from outside the EU, contact the Harbor office.

There is a toilet/shower block on the quay, recycling, WiFi and fuel is available here.

Marine engineers, sailmakers, a launderette, banks and shops are all within easy reach of the harbor.
