Blue buses operate between the major beach destinations and Phuket City and can be hailed at convenient locations along the route. The smaller songthaews (blue-white open-sided vehicles) operate from the fresh market in Phuket City to locations south, such as Chalong, Rawai and Nai Harn, and also go to some of the West Coast beaches. Each is clearly marked with its route. Songthaews are relatively slow, but they leave throughout the day and are cheap.
