Phuket Island - Fuel & LPG

Sep 07, 2024

Fuel:

For smaller vessels, the most cost-effective fuel option is to use the fuel barge in Chalong Bay. This is a small, blue, wooden boat, run by Mai (who does not speak English). Diesel here is reported to be cheaper than at the marinas (March 2023). Telephone Mai on 0966350655.

A fuel barge operates in Patong during the high season.

If you decide to use a marina, it is advisable to book if you need a lot of fuel. Fuel and water are available on the dock at the Yacht Haven and Boat Lagoon.

Ao Chalong Pier has fuel and water available, although costs are not known.

There is also an Esso station on the main road at Ao Chalong.

For larger vessels, it is essential to use the fuel barges and to order the fuel. The barges will meet with you at most pre-requested places. Please contact a local yacht agent for more information. For vessels over 500 gross tonnes, duty-free fuel can be sought within 24hrs of leaving after clearance. You will need to contact a yacht agent to organize it and then proceed to Ao Mackam deepwater port to facilitate this.

In addition, fuel and water can be taken on in Krabi. Water can also be sourced at many of the outlying islands, in particular, Phi Phi Don and Racha.

Cooking Gas:

There is a cooking gas distribution plant near Phuket Boat Lagoon Marina. Take the small road which is straight opposite Boat Lagoon's entrance on the main road. The filling station is on the left, about 500 meters from the main road (shows on Google maps as LPG Phuket). They will fill non-Thai bottles in a few minutes, around 35 Baht per kg.

In Yacht Haven Marina, close to the A pontoon, there is a shop that will have your bottles filled in about one day.
