Port Sudan - Provisions & Laundry

Apr 01, 2013

The fresh produce market, in the centre of town, is open daily. Some 2-3 km SW from the port - return fare with a tuk-tuk three-wheeler is around USD 4. There is an excellent selection of fruit, vegetables, pulses, eggs, spices, as well as basketwork, carvings and other local specialities.

There is a bakery near the market selling unleavened bread. Rolls are sometimes available from one of the groceries. There are also various grocery shops, some of them selling in bulk. Darwish supermarket is the nearest to the market.

The supermarkets are not big shops, but you can find most things you might need. Local produce is cheap.
