Tanapag Harbour (Saipan) - Docking

Sep 29, 2025

Anchoring and Mooring

It is possible to pre-book a berth at Smiling Cove Marina or you can choose to anchor in Tanapag Bay.

Harbor control will allocate an anchoring area - most likely at N14 (15 13.9560 N 145 44.1060 E).

The N14 anchorage is shallow (less than 10m) and has excellent holding, although does suffer from chop which can make anchoring here a little uncomfortable.

The inner harbor does provide good shelter, but it is on a first-come, first-serve basis and gets very crowded.

If anchoring out, it is possible to tie your dinghy up Smiling Cove Marina (15 13.0478 N 145 43.4282 E) as it is close to the center of Garapan Town.
