Djibouti - Communications

Nov 06, 2025

The International Country dialing code for Djibouti is +253.

There is no satellite phone coverage in Djibouti.

The Internet here is extremely slow and SIM cards are expensive ($50 for 12GB). Uploading video content is not possible.

Major hotels have WiFi which you can use if you buy an (expensive) cup of coffee.

Djibouti Telecom is the only phone carrier. Their office is in town and you will need to show your passport to purchase a SIM card. Credit can be bought at any local shop and there are a range of bundles. Connection is reported to be very good in town and quite good when anchoring along the coast as well.
