Yachting facilities are not located on the mainland but across the Canal in Guaruja, on the island.
It is possible to anchor in the main river but itis not recommended unless going ashore on the Santos side.
Approach from SW is straightforward with Santos Bay easily identified by the ships at anchor. The buoyed channel leads into the Estuario de Santos. The tidal stream can reach 1.5 knots in either direction. From the NW, there are off-lying dangers which cannot be seen.
From the south at night, picking up reading line No 1 on 021° can be difficult against city lights background.
There are moorings at the International Yacht Club, the Estaleiro Supmar, and Santos Yacht Club, although unfortunately, Santos YC does not permit visiting yachts to use their facilities (restaurant and pool etc.).

Yacht Storage/Haulout Near Rio De Janero.
Recently we hauled 36ft KiwiDream at MCP Yachts in Guaruja ,Santos,Sao Palo.The experience was the best Ive ever had in 25 years of hauling out.
Correspondence,safety,facilities,hardstand,haulout and boat movement are all first class .They have 150 ton travel lift,the biggest in South America and can haul catamarans.
There was no issue living aboard while we undertook repairs and antifouled etc.
Safety and security are excellent and everything is procurable in the town material supply and engineering wise,a ten minute bike ride/short taxi away.
While MCP is primarily a yard for manufacture of beautiful aluminium yachts and maintenence on superyachts,they are extremely accomodating make space and time for sailors and the little guys and can supply labour or advise on services needed locally.
It is a family owned yard and they are sailors as well hence the welcome you will recieve
I cannot recommend MCP Yachts highly enough,in our case we felt the pricing was very fare.
