Yachts can contact the Puerto Galera Yacht Club (VHF Channel 68) in advance for information on anchorages, clearance, and if there is an available mooring.
For initial full clearance into the Philippines, it is necessary to register immediately with the nearest Philippine Coast Guard office and submit your vessel to Customs, Immigration, and Quarantine inspection, as Puerto Galera is not a port of entry.
The nearest Coast Guard office to Puerto Galera is at Batangas Port, Batangas. This is the nearest office capable of achieving full check-in and QIC requirements. Note, however, that Batangas has a reputation of trying to extort high fees out of sailing boats, so it's better to keep your boat in Puerto Galera and travel by land to complete clearance. This is not straightforward, however, and will take time. Visit Customs before Immigration.
If coming from the south, clear in first in Palawan at Puerto Princesa, where fees are sensible and the process is straightforward.
