Galaxidi - Facts

Description

This sheltered port in the Gulf of Corinth lies just seven kms (5NM) SW of Itea.

Once a thriving shipping town in the 18th and early 19th centuries, it is now an attractive, quiet place, nestled in a narrow inlet surrounded by rocks and pine trees. A very beautiful place to stop for a night or two, or from which to travel to Delphi.

There are two natural harbours here:

  • the deeper main harbour with a quay for yachts and small fishing boats and lined restaurants, bars and shops;
  • a smaller harbour called Chirolaka.

Cruiser highlights

The town has a few supermarkets, bakeries and tavernas as well as a helpful chandlery. It is the closest port to Itea for obtaining water.  A pretty town that's busy all year round with friendly locals.
