Piriapolis - Boatyards

Nov 06, 2018

Piriapolis is reported to be a great place to get work done on your boat. There are rules concerning insurance and doing own work on your boat (see below), however, prices are consistent and you basically get what you pay for.

The port has an excellent 100-ton travel-lift and provides short and long-term storage. Most work is permitted however welding requires a hot-work permit and this has to be approved in advance by a coastguard inspector from Montevideo and there is a fee for this.

The yard does not carry insurance and it is a requirement that the yacht have suitable coverage for the haul out and the storage - the equivalent of the liability a yard would normally carry. This can be arranged at the Banco Seguros de Los Estado in central Piriapolis.
