Sevastopol - Documents

Feb 01, 2015

Sevastopol, on the SW corner of the Crimea Peninsula, has very much the feel of a Russian city and that is the principal language spoken here. For many years it was a "closed" city due to the fact that it was an important Russian naval base.

Since the Russian occupation of the Crimea, it is again closed to all international shipping, including yachts.

Balaklava is part of Sevastopol, a distant district which is 15 km (9.3 km) away from Sevastopol's city limits and 30 km (18.6 miles) away from the city centre.

Position:  44º 37' N, 33º 32' E.
