Tunisia - Yachting Essentials

Jan 14, 2025

Electricity:

Voltage: 230 V
Frequency: 50 Hz

Fuel:

Fuel is available at most of the ports and marinas. Tunisia probably has the cheapest fuel in the Med.

Water:

Good potable water is available everywhere and the sanitation standards are also very high.

LPG:

LPG is used extensively in Tunisia and whilst exchanging bottles may be challenging, getting refills should not present a problem. Cost approx. 3 Euros a bottle.

Getting Work Done:

Many marinas have lift out and repairs as do many of the fishing ports.

Yachting facilities are the best in North Africa. There are marinas at Sidi Bou Said (Tunis), Hammamet, Port Kantaoui and Monastir, and Bizerte. Facilities in fishing ports are often basic.

There are haul-out facilities at Sidi Bou Said (Tunis), Kantaoui, Hammamet, Monastir, Bizerte, Kelibia and Sfax.

Boatyards for catamarans: Porte de Peche in Monastir and Rodriguez in Hammamet are 2 options.

Provisioning:

Marine supplies are not widely available although there are chandleries attached to some marinas. Bring your own antifoul as it will be much cheaper.

Provisions are widely available at the marinas, ports and in the towns.

Wintering:

Monastir is reported as a popular spot for liveaboard to spend the winter. See 2024 report here.
