Port Police and Customs are pleasant and accommodating. They will come to your boat for an inspection and may ask for “souvenirs/cadeaux” (whisky and/or cigarettes) and will complete all documentation while on your boat, taking your passports to their office and returning them a short while later. If you have prepared a list of all electronics on board, including computers, tablets, cell phones, navigation equipment, radio’s TV’s etc., it will speed up the process.
It is a useful harbour from which to clear out of Tunisia.

We have just spent three nights at the Calibra fishing port and enjoyed our stay. It is a working fishing port and little room for visiting yachts. They put us beside the travel lift and we were the only visiting yacht. The immigration and customs people were friendly and professional, they did not ask or hint at payment or gifts.
We had a very different experience when we entered Tunisia at Bizerte – a less than positive experience. Calibra was our exit port, not entry port. We arrived late at night and someone was there to help us. There was no power or water available. Fuel was 1.17 TND per litre but difficult to get at with all the fishing boats tied along the quay.
The port was quiet, clean and people very friendly and helpful. For a 45′ cat it cost us 15euro per night. Their nights appears to be the max stay. The town is not far and there are good supermarkets, banks, generally all the supplies you need. Calibra left us with a very positive view of Tunisia.
Bizarre may have a new marina that charged us 70euro per night (they did give us one night free as there was no power for the first 3 nights) but your stay there could be much more expensive depending on how much immigration and customs decide to ask.

A share taxi from the port into town costs 2 TND each way at the time of writing (about 90 euro cents). Fuel is available and payment can be in TND or Euros – cost TND 1.25 or about 0.56 euro cents a litre.
