There is good mobile phone coverage in urban areas and many networks have international roaming agreements. Internet access is limited but is available in Damascus.
You can buy a local SIM card which then has to be activated at a local head office to allow calls abroad. Call rates are good.
There are some internet cafes, but they are not always easy to find.
