The only real anchorage is off the village in about 10 meters, but allow plenty of scope and swinging room. Take care as this anchorage is reported to be littered with debris (nets, ropes and small logs). The dinghy can be left at the wooden steps in the stone wall or at the floating dinghy pontoon at Harbour Resort Domburg. The fee of 8 euros a day covers unlimited use of the dinghy dock, toilets and showers, WiFi and use of the resort facilities.
The jetty is only for the use of ferries and official boats.
Located in the center of Domburg, offers visiting yachts 8 moorings (10 euros per day) with a dinghy dock, a restaurant, 1 washing machine, shower block, WiFi, small swimming pool, plus a number of other services. The marina can assist with the initial clearance process, but travel into Paramaribo is still required to complete clearance.
Within 300m of the dinghy dock, there are three supermarkets, a doctor, a bank with ATM, a fuel station, hairdresser, engine repair, police station and several churches.
The whole harbor area is a protected area and has good security.
It should be noted that there are no repair facilities or services here and no diesel or water delivery.
Five nautical miles up-river from Domburg is the small marina, part of the Waterland resort. This was the first official marina in Suriname and is very friendly to transient yachts. It has floating pontoons and can accommodate 10-15 yachts (up to 70 feet and draft 4m). The marina offers electricity, running water, shower and toilet, laundry, 24-hour security 365 days a year, bar and restaurant, bicycle rental, taxi’s, bilingual staff, and tourist information. The marina is part of a small private resort with 7 bungalows, a pavilion / restaurant and beach. The marina is in a fairly isolated area, however, it is very easy to rent a car close to the resort or appoint a local driver to run you around.
The marina provides a clearance service, negating the requirement to travel into Paramaribo.
Some new shops have also opened near the resort including a supermarket (2.5km away). A possible option for hurricane season. Booking in advance recommended.

We spent just over a week at the Domburg harbour resort . Nettie is very professional , gives you all the information you need. She can either arrange a driver to take you to town to clear in or she can arrange a car for you. We opted to take the rental car. Check in was extremely easy and staff at all places are friendly and professional. We all went in , in neat shorts, t-shirt and trainers . We had absolutely no problems. Make a day of checking in . See the tourists spots around the area.
Provisioning is limited in Domburg but you can get enough to see you through until you head to the supermarket.
Restaurant we tried in the area. The Chinese place right next door to the marina. Order the small portion or share a medium as the servings are huge. Across the way is a nice place they do bbq meat. A absolute must is a iced coffee at the marina restaurant.

I’ve just returned home after living aboard at Waterland Marina & Resort. Left my yacht there until the New Year. I can’t compliment the owner, Noel, and staff highly enough. Nothing was ever too much trouble. My arrival there was complicated by having a dead motor. The Coastguard towed me to an anchorage off the MAS offices, where I could make contact with Noel. In no time at all he had found me, fed me, fixed me up with a local simcard for my phone, and arranged a tow upriver to the marina. Thereafter a taxi to complete official documentation, a cheapo hire car, and general directions and advice were organised in short order.
I had prearranged the supply and installation of a new Yanmar motor with him, the job being easily done at the marina.
The marina itself was a new experience for me, being in fresh water in a jungle setting, like living in Paradise. The hull cleaned itself in no time at all! A nice quiet and safe alternative for hurricane season

The Marina Waterland Resort lies 5 Miles upstream of Domburg on the Suriname river. It is a fantastic place to be. Beautiful resort, good pontoons, great hospitality.
Marina Resort Waterland Update – May 2017.
The facility is very good – see all the comments below. I have my boat there at present for 6 months at a reasonable cost.
The owner personally checks every week if all boats are safe and not taking on water. There are several boats that have been here for a long time, two are 60+ ft sailing yachts so draft is no problem.
The staff are very helpful and can organise transport on short notice. The supermarkets within driving distance are very good for stocking up as prices are low. Conclusion: a very nice place to be, off the beaten track.

We spent one week in Domburg and found it very nice here. All the moorings were taken upon our arrival but can anchor easily in 10m with good holding of hard sand and mud. Be sure to anchor downriver (closer towards the bridge) as there is one nasty local who lives on the upriver side of the moorings who will come out on his porch and yell at you to go away! Otherwise, every local we met was very nice.
The owner and staff of the little marina here were all friendly and helpful, and the bar makes for a nice hang out for happy hour, a mixing of locals, cruisers and local Dutch boaters that have settled here. The marina just recently built a swimming pool, which is popular with boats with kids.
Car hire is available locally for around 10 euros/day, and the drive into Paramaribo is easy enough. The local bus only departs when full, so catching it on a schedule is difficult, especially if coming back from the city. We got our Tourist Pass while in St Laurent, French Guiana (at the Suriname office) which eliminates having to do it here. That made things easier with just one stop at MAS, and one stop at the Military Police.

Just returned from Suriname having left our yacht at Waterland Marina. Wonderful resort in the forest with very well built pontoons (room for around 12 yachts), secure gated site, and reasonable cost (300 euros/month for 6 months stay 12.5m length). Helpful resort manager organised car hire for us. The registration process has changed again recently.
We went to MAS (maritime police) 1st for thorough check of boat papers and filling of several forms, then on to Immigration for Tourist pass ($25 or 20 euro fee- no SUD allowed), and finally military police for the passport stamp. All offices are within easy walking distance in central Pramaribo.
You can fill your gas bottles with INGAS, located on the road from Domburg to Paramaribo, Adress: Sit Winston Churchillweg 247, District Wanica, Suriname. Driving from Domburg it is on your right hand after you passed the Sttatsolie.
We stayed both at Huib in Domburg and in Waterland. We liked both places, Huib is now building a swimming pool which will be ready by the end of January 2015. To get clearance we were sent towards the MP in the Henck Arronstraat after we got our tourist card to stamp it. The MP was very willing to stamp it but they stamped it with Zorg and Hoop, the local airport.
Later the Vreemdelinge Politie in the Jaggernath Lachmonstrat told us that this was wrong. So don’t go to the MP to stamp your Passport/Tourist card when you arrive by boat, but go to the Vreemdelingenpolitie.
We rented a car by Richy, phone +5978620048 for only Euro 10,00 a day. It was a bit old but a good car. Both at Waterland and at Domburg we found it very handy to have a car.
We stayed at Waterland Marina for ten days whilst waiting for parts. Noël the owner could not have been more helpful helping us to locate parts and even picking them up for us in Paramaribo. It is very secure and I would have no worries about leaving my yacht there.
Each berth has water electricity and good wifi and an excellent Sunday lunch is available at certain times. Noël also directed us to some excellent restaurants in Paramaribo organising the bookings and taking us there.
Car hire is readily available for 12euros a day delivered to the Marina and Noël is happy to organise trips upriver, into Paramaribo and perhaps most importantly in Suriname he arranged transport to facilitate checking in and clearing out…nothing is too much trouble.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and never felt isolated just very relaxed listening to the Howler monkeys and watching out for sloths. A great place to tie up your boat!

If you are on a budget and you want to socialize and don’t mind using your dinghy for everything, then Domburg is perfect. Huub invested in a small shower and toilet block and a cosy meeting /drinking place. You are in the middle of the small marketplace of Domburg.
If you would like to tie up, have water, electricity, wifi etc., leave your boat behind for a while, need assistance with importing spare parts, want the quietness of the jungle with its howler monkeys, the birds, love the luxury of Noel’s Bar and food – then I would recommend Marina Waterland. They have canoes at a small beach available for watersports and the jungle resort is fantastic to walk around. A lot of wildlife can be seen there from time to time.
I heard that some cruisers think that the marine resort Waterland only take big groups of sailors, but that’s not true. I was there alone for about one year.
And it was great there…..it’s wonderful to stay there with a good staff and internet.
