There are 3 marinas here; Marina de Torrevieja and Real Club Nautico de Torrevieja are the closest to the town.
Whilst anchoring is prohibited in the harbour, many cruising boats do anchor off the beach or off the breakwater of Marina Salinas, weather permitting, without any problems. There is a gas station nearby which has basic food and drinks if just making a quick stop.

We stayed at the international marina. Facilities ok and all the the pontoons are new.
It is very close to town centre.
We found Costa Blanca services very helpful. They are British. Rather strange billing arrangement in the marina . They charge cash in advance because they have been selling their moorings. We were told it is uncertain where this cash in advance ends up but a 12 m boat for a week was €150 plus t5 tax, power and water.
We have a contract for staying a year on our Catamaran in marina salinas. But we had a great problem: Catamaran was hit by somebody in April 2018, and the other boat has gone. Marina Salinas don’t want to help us to find this boat, they don’t have proper video along the marina. I think that it is a great problem when you can’t leave your boat without any safety and responsibility. We completely don’t know what to do. We are very upset. What is more, it is absolutely impossible to stay at night on the board because the music is so loud, you can’t sleep. And they don’t care about their guests. I know that many many boats stay only for 1 night and then run out because of the music. I think the port is the place for people mostly, who should have a little rest and secondly for teenagers drinking alcohol.
Stayed for a night in July at Marina de Torrevieja. The marina is very sheltered and the staff helpful. I telephoned them in the afternoon and arranged to stay the night without a problem. The marina is stern-to mooring but with the shelter, this wasn’t a problem. It has all the services you’ll need and I did see several boats anchoring within the breakwater.
The marina does suffer a bit from the noise of the bars and nearby funfair which did seem to go on until about 3-4 am. For a quieter, but slightly more expensive night, head up to Santa Pola which is a real gem.
Anchoring situation off the Marina Salinas in July 2018 is unchanged, no problems with 14m next to all the locals anchoring there. The gas station has some basic food and drinks if you don’t want to stop for long.
Although forbidden, many boat anchor in the bay of Torrevieja. if you are looking for a good mechanic, Oscar is your man. His workshop is right next to the Marina Salinas Varadero and he and his staff are very professional and skilled. In 30 mins, they figured out the source of our engine troubles – we already had four different mechanics in Italy look at it, but none came to a solution.
Can also highly recommend Nautica Martinez. We stayed at the Varadero Marina Salinas for almost a month. The Varadero staff is friendly and helpful and they speak English. The staff at the reception desk at the marina salinas can be very unfriendly. If a short-haired woman is on shift, turn around and come back later. She made us feel like criminals when we asked to use the laundry machine (although technically not staying in the marina, as we were in repair at the Varadero).
We have been to the international marina on 24-27/8/2017 with our Bavaria 44. We chose to be closer to the centre, but definitely not worth it, the sailors are very friendly, but the reception is disappointing.
They charge for absolutely everything, water at 5 Euros per day, lightly charged the part, fees charged the part beyond the high value of 42 Euros + VAT per day.
The much more modern Marina Salinas charges the same price per day, + 5 Euros per day of water and electricity, plus taxes and VAT of 21%, reception staff much more friendly and concerned about the well being of the cruiser traveller. Modern and pleasant structure and next to the most modern part of the city.
No, advise to anyone to use the international marina, smelly bathrooms, to wash clothes 5 Euros (the highest price we have ever found) structure, worn and expensive.
On our arrival we opted to pay for a week to get a discount, we stayed 4 days and went away, and they refused to recalculate the amount, or even to leave a future stay credit.
In the end, we paid 274.96 euros for 4 days, the price of top 10 marinas in the Mediterranean, by a marina of the 10 worst of the Mediterranean.
MARINA SALINAS
We came into Marinas Salinas in November 2016 and kept the boat there until June 2017. It is a brand new marina with all facilities and great services. The commercial manager Rodney and his team is the most helpful and service oriented crew we have met during our 18 months in the Med. The town is not exciting, but when it comes to a safe marina, where your boat is looked after by responsible people – this is the place.
It is also great value for money, as we paid 2700 euro for six months for 50 feet, all-inclusive. There is a bus which leaves every two hours to Alicante airport if you do not want to take the 50 euro taxi. We also used the Salinas yard which has all facilities and kept every promise they made to us – on time. So we are very pleased and can only recommend this Marina Salinas. Regarding the anchoring, everybody is doing it and yes there is probably a rule saying you shouldn’t…
We spent around 3 years, off and on, at Marina Salinas. We never had a problem anchoring in the harbour, when we were not docking in the marina – by the beach or over by the breakwater of Marina Salinas. We have friends who recently anchored with no issue in the harbour this year many times on their sails along the coast.
The town is convenient – anything you need, you can find (Carrefour, Mercadona, shopping centre not far away, and the Manper supermarket is good for meats).
The people are very friendly and helpful throughout the town and at Marina Salinas. At Marina Salinas, check with Rodney if there is a discount for the length of time you will stay. The longer you stay, the better the price. The marina has worked hard to improve security on the docks over the last several years and they have made some upgrades to the laundry and showers. The security for the showers and laundry is not the best, but perhaps they will improve that.
Alicante airport is not far and there is a bus from Torrevieja that goes directly to the airport for around 6 Euros.
There are a couple of chandleries in the town – a new one in Marina Salinas and there is one over by Marina International.
Martinez is a great Yanmar service located in the town and Oscar with Volvo Penta in Marina Salinas is very helpful. Danny has a canvas business in Marina Salinas – I think it’s called Skylines.
We enjoyed our time in Torrevieja and met some incredible people there – many of whom we plan to keep in touch with for years to come.
Anchoring now in fact officially prohibited, also there seems to be a quite new marina (Salinas) that leaves space for anchoring. Nevertheless, the Marinero pointed out we could anchor at our own risk and that we might be chased off by the coast guard. We didn’t dare to try in the end, the wind was unpredictable. We went inside Marina Salinas instead, paid 35 Euros for 13.8m in February 2017. Torrevieja itself is not worth visiting in our opinion.

They replaced upper and lower seals on two SD50 sail drives; lapped the clutch cones; and replaced engine mounts. Some of this was warranty work that we had not been previously advised was necessary.
In replacing the engine mounts they rectified an installation error made by the builder when originally installing the engine 2 years ago. We found them extremely helpful and co-operative. Emails are answered promptly. Good English via the office. Professional with a high standard of cleanliness on the boat while working. I would not hesitate to use them again.
