In Almeria, the visitors' berths are in the port of Almeria, either just to starboard past the breakwater or at the further end of the port, near the fuel jetty.
Aguadulce lies just 5nm west of Almeria. In this marina, visitors moor on the western side of the long breakwater. Cruisers say this is a very welcoming marina.

Stayed in Almeria 1 night on 21st Oct 2018, a 14m x 4m motorboat. Arrived late around 10 p.m., radioed ahead and were met with welcome help from a staff member. There was only 1 bow lazy line, but it worked fine. Stay was cheap at only €21.95 which included €3 for electricity. Toilets and showers were available although somewhat cold.
Marina office is in the sports club through the white fence gate on the right as you walk up towards the main buildings where the toilets are. Helpful staff. Diesel was available at €1.40 per litre, just call them on VHF CH 9. One thing to note- at the fuel berth the swell was substantial. Despite relatively calm seas outside, we had to use a lot of fendering and thrusters to get away sharpish. Would stay here again.
Garrucha — a laid line failed when the wind blew.
Aguadulce, we spent the winter 2016-2017 here. Very attractive pricing, good service, charming and helpful harbour peoples and good protection. The bar and cafés can be noisy during the WE. Well equipped ‘Varadero’ we let made a new antifouling there.
Puerto Deportivo Aguadulce. My boat has a draft of 2.8 meters. The depth in the marina allows me to be absolutely safe. The description says (see above) 2.5m max draft. This is not correct.
Puerto Deportivo Garrucha – we stayed there for a week in August 2014. There was no response to numerous emails, so we called on the radio and were waved to a spot. This is a new marina and is in the heart of a nice Spanish beach town. There are numerous restaurants very close to the marina, and the town is lively with beautiful beaches.
The marina is very nice but has some serious design problems although they do still charge a hefty price – 53€ per night for our 13-meter boat. It is open to the South and the swell is probably the worst we have seen in the Med. Because of the swell, they are having boats tie “side to” and using the “mooring lines” to hold the boat off of the dock. We used one for the bow and one for the stern.
When we were there the surging became out of control and a sailboat in front of us bent their lifeline rails on the port side when the boat hit the dock, it was not a pleasant scene. The marina also doesn’t have the internet, but the Tapas restaurant at the end of the dock does, so we used that. The town is great and the beaches are wide and sandy. Other than the surge this is a great place, so in calm weather, it would be nice. I still can’t imagine the circumstances that lead to a multi-million Euro marina being built without a basic study that would have predicted the surge.
For Aguadulce: 2 times a day a direct bus to Malaga in 2,5 hour. The airport of Almeria is only 22 km away. There are many more busses to Malaga, but then first go to Almeria bus station. At least 2 good chandleries in Almeria, one is at the way into Almeria called Milano.
There is a good shop for canvas and strong zippers in the cable Soldado de España, close to the train station. the receptionist in Aguadulce Jessica is very helpful and knows how to call for a solution in case of any kind of problem.
