There are laundry facilities at the old marina but none at the new one yet (Oct 2015).
There are three laundries nearby offering service wash for 3 Euros/kg.
There are three large grocery stores (Leader Price, Score, and L'Eclerc) within walking distance of the new marina.
Across from Score are fresh fruit and veg market. There are several other fresh food stores in the central business district. The largest discount food store is Jumbo, which is located on the far east side of the city, near the freeway/highway. You will need a vehicle to shop there.
The main fresh produce market in Le Port is on Wednesday mornings. It is located near the large Le Port Catholic church on Wednesday mornings. The church is noted as a mosque on the city map.
Don’t miss the market in St. Paul, Fridays 0600-1600, with fresh produce and local crafts. This is the best market on Reunion.
There is a good morning market for local produce in the capital Saint-Denis.

We would like to report that most, if not all, of the problems of the new marina are now resolved. There is a security guard on the premises 24 hours a day, the access to the pontoons are locked, the keys given open the pontoon doors and the toilets as well as the barrier to the car park.
No cars other than boat owners’ are allowed inside the premises. There is continuous ample hot water in the showers all the time. Lots of trash cans have been installed, and there is no trash anywhere. The marina is very clean, quiet and pleasant. Jerome is very helpful, and we could rent a car for 19 euros a day for a month with his advice.
He can also advise on the hiking trails. Walking the Cirque de Mafate is exceptional, the crater and the villages called llets are unique in the world, so plan to spend some time doing this, even if for one night only. La Reunion is a beacon of civilization in the midst of the Indian Ocean, and it is very pleasant to be here.
Reunion Island – Refrigeration at Le Port
We chanced upon a young, very competent and most importantly conscientious refrigeration technician (working for himself) in Le Port. Having become reasonably knowledgeable about refrigeration over the years, it was obvious from the start that Pierre knew his trade.
He showed great tenacity in persevering with the problem solving on our refrigeration, and all with good humour. He works with compressor and electrical refrigeration. We have no hesitation in recommending him to anyone with a marine refrigeration need.
