Whangamata - Fees

Jul 16, 2025

Where is Whangamata?

Whangamata harbour lies on the southeast coast of the Coromandal Peninsula, about 25NM south of Whitianga.  It is one of the North Island's most popular holiday destinations with surfing and game-fishing two of the most popular attractions.

Entrance Notes or Cautions for Whangamata:

The entrance to the harbour/estuary is narrow but well marked and there is a significant tidal flow.  The Whangamata Bar is renowned for surf so the entrance can be tricky when there is a big swell.  Access to the marina is recommended as close as possible to high tide.
