Kawthaung (formally Victoria Point) - Docking

Oct 01, 2017

The anchorage of the town is well protected, being out of the main current which flows at 2 to 3 knots. Dinghies can be safely left at the town jetty and there is a water taxi service operating until 21.00.

However, it is more comfortable at night to move further north to the east side of Bowers Island (09° 59.33'N, 098° 33.68'E). This will avoid the worst of the mosquitoes, the risk of collision with drifting boats, as well as the noise from the many longtail boats. There is good holding in thick mud. The concrete jetty ashore has both diesel and water.

Let MTT know if you plan to move.
