Ilha de Mozambique - Clearance

This is not an official Port of Entry.

However, cruisers report that it is possible to clear with Immigration and Port Captain here for a visit to the Island.

Local guides will come out to your boat on arrival. Appoint one to contact the Immigration officer on your behalf (agree the fee in advance).

Procedure as follows:

  • Stay on board after arrival and make contact with the Immigration officer, who will come on board first to process all passports. Immigration must be seen before the Port Captain.
  • There will be charge for shore passes (you pay per day to be on the island) and visas.
  • Visas may take some time to process.
  • Cost for 2 days for a crew of 2 (December 2022): approx USD $180
  • Next visit the Port Captain. Charges here are based on gross tonnage and days spent on anchor. For example, 5 day stay @ 9 tons - approximately USD $75.
