Little Bay - Docking

Little Bay Docking

Basic docking facilities have now been built at Little Bay for ferry and cargo boats.

Anchoring

Dredging in Little Bay (August 2023) caused all moorings to be removed. The wrecks were removed which improves the anchoring options, however there is a shelf and sand can be difficult to find.

Holding is good with a sandy bottom, however, it is deep and can get very rolly so pick your weather conditions carefully. The most protected spot for anchoring seems to be north of the dock in front of the small fishing fleet, where there is room for a couple of boats. Be careful not to anchor in the pathway of the concrete pier and leave plenty of room for the huge container ships to turn around.

See cruiser comments for the latest info. (speech bubble icon in blue bar).

Other Suggested Anchorages

  • Rendez-vous bay, just to the north of Little Bay (5 minutes north by dinghy) is often less rolly.
  • Carr's Bay, just to the south of Little Bay, may also be an option.
  • See Ocean Posse's Monserrat Marina's page for additional information.

Moorings

There are currently no moorings available for visiting yachts.

Marinas

Montserrat is currently developing a new port and marina in the Little Bay area (hence the dredging operations).  In coming years a protected breakwater, port, ferry terminal, small ship cruise terminal, and a 60- 80 berth marina with services is planned.

For further information or assistance to visiting yachts please contact Ralph Birkhoff, Commodore, Montserrat Yacht Club at ralph.birkhoff@gmail.com or 664.496.3888.

Dinghy Dock

Dinghies can be tied to the south side of the wharf.
