Montenegro Weather for Sailors

On the coast, the climate is mild but wet in autumn and winter, while in summer it's hot and sunny, with a slightly cooling sea breeze. Winter is mild, with average temperatures in January around 7/8 °C (45/46 °F) and plenty of snow on the mountains inland. The Bay of Kotor is sheltered and mild, but in the winter the temperature drops suddenly when the Bura blows, a cold katabatic wind coming from the interior. Katabatic winds can be felt in the summer months, but not as strong as during the winter. The prevailing wind on this coast is normally NE or SW, strengthened by the sea breezes.
