There is a transit pier in Brunsbüttel for the Kiel Canal. It is located just inside of the locks on the Canal. The piers offers good shelter from all conditions. It gets very crowded in season and due to the amount of canal traffic, it is not a peaceful berth, but useful.
The town has a hospital, banks, post office, provision shops and a train station.
