International Clearance:
The marina can assist with all clearance arrangements. Once you have the marina in sight, call them on the VHF - Channel 68. They respond to Spanish, English, French and Italian.
The courtesy dock is WHISKEY.
They are very helpful and will assist with guidance to a berth, tying up and finding the correct officials to come to your boat.
On arrival you will be met by the dock master and shortly after by customs and port health. At the marina offices you will need to clear immigration and pay clearance charges.
Yachts that have cleared here in the past warn of excessive berthing charges for being put on a private berth, fees for towing a dinghy and berthing assistance after hours.

We arrived in Casa de Campo at 1730 on 24th on 37ft Tayana. The marina answered on 68 and sent 2 dinghies to meet us outside the breakwater and guided us to our spot K43. Staff were on the Quay to guide and assist. Very efficient and friendly. The leading Marina Officer took yacht documents + passports and promised to return with all relevant authorities.
40 minutes later, he arrived with Navy, Port Authority & Immigration. Apologised for not finding Customs. All queued up and documents signed. The total payment was $201. Marina officer gave typed breakdown of charges, unsigned and not a receipt. From all the documents received, only two were receipts and they covered only $120 of the monies paid. He stated that Customs charge was included and only other charge would be up to $20 when Sanitation official visited in the morning. Very happy and settled for the night. Forgot to ask berth charge, but figured to would be similar to s/v Mango the previous week (see posting 19th). Early morning the wily old Customs Officer relieved us of a few dollars. Popped along to Marina Office to ask about berth charges.
We were given a written list – $119.77 per night. $0.45 per kW electricity, $0.06 gal water. Queried the nightly rate. Told we were in high season and on a private berth as they were full. Mentioned a big fish comp and pointed to an advert on desk. Ah, but 38’ Catamaran Mango was here a week ago paying $36 per night, $80 more per night is unreasonable/unacceptable + marina isn’t full + that competition is in 3 months time .
All very polite and he persisted for a while. Then he called his boss. Enters Marina Officer from our arrival, apologetic and said we would be charged by the boat length and moved to a non privately owned berth. *$36 per night*. The berth K43, the space next to us. Our problem resolved and bill should end up $108 for 3 nights and not $357…..
On notice outside office, berth assistance after hours, which I assume is 1800 onwards – $74 per hour. It is a well-appointed marina and we did enjoy our stay. Taxi to La Romania and back, with driver waiting in town for an hour – approx $25 – $30. Not a great deal to see.

I just checked into the marina after a beautiful night crossing from Boqueron Puerto Rico. Although the marina never acknowledged my repeated radio calls on 68 and 16 we still went to the fuel dock and inquired about a slip for the day.
They brought around the dinghy guys who secured us to the slip and called the folks for clearance into DR. Here’s where it gets interesting… I’ve read some negative comments about checking into this country but the marina made it painless and made sure we paid only the amount we were supposed to pay to officials. The total was $199USD and the cursory inspection from the Narcotics and Navy guys was very superficial and non-intrusive.
The slip rates for our 38′ Lagoon is $36.76 per night with water is $0.06 per gallon and electricity set at $0.45 per kilowatt. While this may be an “upscale” marina in a posh town it is very affordable and they welcome transient boats with great service. Free wifi too.
