Copenhagen - Activities, Attractions & Shopping

Sep 01, 2014

Copenhagen is a beautiful city to explore. Visit Nyhavn, the very sceneic dock in the middle of the old city.

The Tivoli gardens remain unique despite many attempts at imitation, and there is an international jazz festival, usually in July.

Fifteen miles north lies Helsingor, the Elsinore of Shakespeare's Hamlet, with its imposing Kronborg Castle (rebuilt after Bard's death) which encloses a notable maritime museum. The Nordhavn marina nearby makes for an easy stopover.

At Roskilde off the Isefjord is the famous Viking Ship Museum containing five ships that were sunk as blockships, across the entrance to the fjord, a thousand years ago.

In Hellerup (15 minutes away) at the new Tuborg Harbour, next to the Waterfront centre you will find the Experimentarium, which is an active science lab. The Experimentarium is a lot of fun for both children and adults, who like to learn about everyday science.
