Golfito - Docking

Apr 11, 2024

Anchorage:

The safest places to anchor are in front of Banana Bay Marina, Land and Sea or Fishhook Marina.

Drakes Bay is reported to be a bit rolly on the anchorage but the village, restaurants, hiking and diving at Isla Cano are worth it according to visiting cruisers.

Moorings:

The Land and Sea Cruisers Club which offered moorings and internet has closed.  The moorings have been removed and the owners have retired.

Dinghy Landing:

Check with the three marinas for dinghy landing.

Security:

Outboard and dinghy theft is a problem in Golfito and cruisers should take precautions. Be extra vigilant with security, even in daylight whilst on board the boat.

Marinas:

The Fish Hook Marina offers special reduced rates to visiting yachts. Banana Bay Marina has a very good restaurant and offers a range of facilities, such as floating docks with water and electricity, as well as duty-free fuel for boats in transit. A new superyacht marina, Marina Bahia Golfito, has now opened and will be part of a large resort development when finished.
