Isla de San Andres - Clearance

Mar 01, 2024

Full details on the formalities required for clearing into and out of Colombia can be found at Colombia Formalities.

Remember, an agent is required to clear into and out of Colombia, so no attempt at contacting the Port Captain should be made, except through your nominated clearing agent (Agencia Maritima) on arrival.

For a list of agents see Clearance Agents.

Clearance formalities must be completed even if coming from mainland Colombia.

General Process:

Port Health will come on board at the quarantine anchorage (Inner Bay).

Visas are issued on arrival for 30 to 90 days depending on nationality.

Customs and Immigration will come to the marina.

Fees:

  • US $43 per crew member - passenger tax
  • US $90 to $100 - agent service costs

Currently, there are no additional costs for Immigration at the time of the clearance, nor for holidays or overtime. The temporary importation procedure is also free.

Other notes:

  • Applying for a TIP after 15 days can now be done online without the use of an agent. See cruiser Mike Brasler's step-by-step guide on now to do this here.
  • Note: Vessels checking in to San Andres on the way to mainland Colombia will still need to apply for temporary importation on the mainland (if planning to stay more than a few days) as if they had arrived from another country. San Andres is several steps ahead of the mainland with digital TIP application and it most definitely is not possible to do this digitally on the mainland. See Documents for details on how to get your TIP on the mainland.
  • The Coastguard patrol the harbor on a regular basis.
  • Spare parts can be imported without tax if using "yacht in transit" feature.
