The Nestinari custom is a unique phenomenon, which is not only spectacular – walking barefooted on glowing ember - it is also an old priest custom dating back to antiquity. The Nestinari are rendered into a condition, similar to trance and dance to the harmonious accompaniment of drums and bagpipes.

When crossing the border from the south expect a VHF call from Border Control. After giving your details they are very friendly and may call you most days probably for no other reason than they are bored! Harbour has showers, toilets, washing machines and tumble dryer.
