West End/Sopers Hole - Docking

Jan 22, 2025

Anchoring:

There used to be good anchoring in this harbor, especially in the northeast part where there is good holding over sand in seven to nine meters.  Space for anchoring, however, is now very limited due to the expanded mooring field.  Lower Belmont Bay is recommended as an anchorage but make sure you do not anchor on the coral.  Also do not leave anything valuable on deck or in reach of light fingered thieves who have been known to board anchored vessels under cover or darkness.

Moorings:

There are many mooring buoys in the harbor available for nightly rental (at $30/night). A boat comes around at about 17:00 hrs and collects fees. WiFi is not included in the mooring fee and WiFi in the harbor is expensive.

Refuse disposal and water are available at the dinghy dock at the ferry terminal.

Marinas:

Soper's Hole Marina has slips available for visiting yachts.  It offers good facilities with transient slips available and Pussers Landing (retail shop, restaurant and outdoor bar).

Lighthouse Marina at the top of Soper's Hole to starboard is small yet friendly.

Frenchmans Cay Marina is at the entrance to Soper's Hole.

Security:

As with many places in the Caribbean, dinghies are attractive targets for would be thieves.  Always lift and securely lock your dinghy as even cable locked dinghies that are left in the water are targeted by thieves. See Security for the latest information.
