Bundaberg - Docking

Jul 27, 2024
Marinas: Bundaberg Port Marina is the only operation marina at this popular port of entry for Australia.  It is within easy walking distance of the coastal township of Burnett Heads which offers a modern shopping village with supermarket, bakery, post office, chemist and hairdressers.    The marina has 180 wet berths, 120 hardstand and dry storage sites,  haulout facilities with a 75 tonne ship lift and is pet-friendly. Note that the Marina requires all vessels to be covered by a minimum $10 million third party insurance policy. Anchorages:  Vessels can anchor inside the entry to the river anywhere to the south of the channel markers and must stay on the seaward side of the point before reaching the marina. Vessels cannot anchor between the channel markers and the marina due to vessels coming into or leaving the Marina. The commercial port is further upriver so there will be large cargo carriers and vessels passing the anchorage and marina on a regular basis.

The upriver is navigable but there are some areas that yachts with deeper drafts would need care - and high tides - to navigate.  It is possible to anchor in the town reach, but it is not advisable to leave your vessel unattended for an extended period while anchored.

Dinghy Docks:  Vessels that want to return to anchor after completing clearance procedures can pay a tie up fee that allows the use of the dinghy dock, Marina courtesy bus, laundry, restaurant andcafé. It also allows access to water and unleaded fuel if required.
