Darwin - Provisions & Laundry

Aug 11, 2025

There are several supermarkets providing a wide selection of goods. The one drawback is that as most fresh produce is flown in from the southern states, all of it is chilled, which considerably shortens its life once it is stored on board. One place where locally grown produce can be bought is at Parap, not far from the Darwin Sailing Club, where a colorful market is held every Saturday morning selling not only local fruit and vegetables but also having Oriental food stalls, where sailors can taste the culinary specialties awaiting them in southeast Asia. Another good fresh produce market is Rapid Creek Sunday Market, held in the mornings.

Woolworths, on the corner of Smith and Knuckey Streets, is the nearest supermarket to the Mooring Basin and will deliver. Fannie Bay Fairprice Foodstore, close to Darwin Sailing Club, offers discounts on bulk orders and delivers large orders. The largest shopping center, the Casuarina Shopping Centre, is open seven days a week.
